When one of the world’s largest dairy companies encountered unexpected membrane failures in their water recuperation unit, they turned to EMI Twente for answers. Using our state-of-the-art facilities and decades of expertise, we conducted a comprehensive spiral wound element autopsy to uncover the root cause and provide actionable insights.
Our autopsy process follows a meticulous protocol. We carefully open the element, sampling multiple locations to ensure a thorough investigation. Using advanced techniques such as Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM) with elemental analysis, we build a detailed picture of the element’s condition. From there, we can deploy a range of specialized methods—FTIR, XPS, staining tests, and more—to delve deeper into any anomalies.
At EMI Twente, we leave no stone unturned. Every autopsy is a detective story, and our lab is equipped with the tools to find the answers. By combining cutting-edge techniques with years of experience, we don’t just identify what went wrong—we provide the knowledge to make it right.
